Will ain’t the only one being spoiled!

I loved the plot twist where Hannibal decided to stop lying to himself and to Will about what he wants in their relationship? I can’t deal with this, a televised version of this character actually giving him the depth to genuinely want a friendship despite all the obvious obstacles in the way of that. So many writers like taking the easy way with villainous sorts and make them one-dimensional, two if you’re lucky. This actually feels like watching REAL PEOPLE and not just cardboard cutouts of what a True Sociopath is.

This is the Bay Cat, and it may disappear from the planet before we even learn anything about it. This, like the flat-headed cat, is not a well-studied species and researchers know very little about it. Indeed, it wasn’t even photographed until 1998! The Bay cat is found only in Borneo, and is quickly disappearing due to the deforestation of its habitat for commercial logging and oil palm plantations. Only an estimated 2,500 of these cats exist, and the population is in decline. This may be a species that remains a mystery until it disappears.

I love that you took the time to break this down, and that’s exactly how I felt about Hannibal using Tobias to mentally scare/upset/traumatized Will more in an attempt to bring them closer. I also think that alerting the law ahead of time made it less suspicious for when he inevitably killed Tobias (as he was clearly planning to). Then the idea that Tobias was running scared and came to kill his tattler best friend (and psychiatrist) would be a little easier for others to swallow - not that Jack seemed without suspicion anyway.

If it is true that is AMAZING and I will be so impressed at the writers for diving into that trope as only part of his hallucinations. I was already on the fence about it because it seemed in character for Alana to immediately shut that shit down but it still felt really out of nowhere and forced for me. And why was Alana just wandering over? I assumed he called her until they established that was incorrect.

Curious to see if this theory goes anywhere. (What does the script say, I wonder?)

But seriously, the fight choreography was amazing and felt realistic for a grappling brawl between two characters with uneven fighting experience. I was doubly impressed/interested that Hannibal was actually struggling to win and even NOT doing well at first. He’s so often the perpetrator, the do-er and it was fantastic seeing an interpretation bold enough to break that mask of perfection by letting us see him successfully attacked and bloodied while still in the free world.
